This 2 line Variable Message Board with quad flashing lanterns, or Trunk Road Sign, was commissioned for Caledonian MacBrayne in Argyll to provide passengers with early warning information in the event that the Portavadie to Tarbert Ferry, 3 miles ahead on difficult single track roads, was seriously delayed or not running at all.
Control of the sign was made available to staff remotely at the Ferry Terminal computers via GSM Radio Modem.
